Matrix Vousy and Bettina Drummond Stand Out at 2008 All American Quarter Horse Congress
The most often asked question from spectators and competitors at this year's All American Quarter Horse Congress when they caught sight of Team Matrix members Bettina Drummond and her Quarter Horse stallion Vousy was "is that a Quarter Horse?" Yes indeed, the Matrix-eating Vousy is all Quarter Horse but his demonstration of such classical dressage movements as passage, piaffe and Spanish walk did cause some to wonder.
The 2008 All American Quarter Horse Congress, held throughout the month of October at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio, draws nearly 10,000 Quarter Horses and more than half a million Quarter Horse owners and fans each year. And this year, Bettina and Vousy made an appearance. On hand to share the fun was Matrix Vice President Keith Manfred.
"Vousy is definitely a stunning looking Quarter Horse. And as a result of Bettina's skill as a trainer, he is the picture of perfect health, which has made him a great representative for the Matrix," Manfred said. "We could think of no better way to introduce the Matrix to the Quarter Horse community then to join them at their biggest event and bring along our Matrix horse that represents the Quarter Horse breed."
Bettina has been feeding the Matrix to Vousy for more than a year and says it has helped to bolster his overall health and muscle development. The Matrix has also helped Vousy maintain his weight and stay healthy during times of heavy work and stress, such as when traveling to big venues like the Quarter Horse Congress where the pair stopped riders and pedestrians in their tracks during their warm-up rides in the rings and classical demonstrations on the grass.
A frequent comment addressed to both horse and rider when spotted around the show grounds was "he's gorgeous." Vousy certainly agreed. He seemed to relish in the fan attention. But he wasn't the only one getting attention. Free copies of the Eclectic Horseman magazine, with its extensive profile of Bettina in its latest issue, were distributed around the grounds and a number of people asked Bettina to sign the magazine.
"It was a productive trip," Manfred said. "It's clear that Quarter Horse owners are passionate about the Quarter Horse breed and they really love their horses. And because of that, they were very receptive to the Matrix. These are people who are very interested in a natural solution to address the health needs of their Quarter Horses."
