HUMAN ANTIOXIDANT RESPONSE TO NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTATION

In the Acute Oxidative Potential Assay of Oxis International, Inc, there was a rise in the anti-oxidant potential of humans taking Mushroom Matrix ( DLE) plus 1 milligram of ET. Serum and plasma samples were used in the assay before and after 2 weeks of dosing. This study may be the first to show a direct blood change in anti-oxidant potential after ingestion of a dietary supplement. No obvious placebo effect.

AOP Test:
The AOP test is similar to the ORAC test and represents a simple assessment of the same endpoint, namely, antioxidant capacity. ORAC measures the ability of a sample to soak up artificially produced peroxyl radical before it reacts with a measurement indicator, as compared to Trolox (water soluble vitamin E). The Trolox sacrifices itself to peroxyl radical.

AOP measures the ability of a sample to soak up copper oxidizer before it reacts with the indicator, as compared to uric acid. The sample sacrifices itself to copper catalyzed oxidation.
